Taoist…Confucius…Christ…Buddhist
Reading books about great minds of the four paradigmatic figures, Lao tzu, Confucius, Jesus, Buddha, who had the most profound and lasting impact on our thought, education, belief, I have vainly tried to put those teachings into perspective.
The simplest way for me, a novice reader, is to put them in parallel to our stages of growing up.
A new born child is a free spirit with a mind opening and accepting to anything without judging them. And that we could perhaps say we were born Taoist.
Growing up, in order to be a good member in the society, the child needs to learn, to be disciplined, to be educated. Confucius’ principles would constitute our life during school and college years.
Then come duties, earning income and nurturing family, the man must have discipline and devotion to his work. Eventually, he will be revealed by his will, his dream, his sacrifice. Naturally, the man wants an existence, having a house and expanding his boundary just like the Christian who, one time, went out and wanted to conquer the world.
Man will naturally be subdued with sickness or succumb to aging, the withdrawal stage will follow suit. The horizon starts shrinking because the man has to mind his own health and being. He lives with literally no greed. The man would not want much of anything and that is the dogmatic of Buddhism.
Eventually, the man will get older and older. If he still lives, less and less he would want to be involved. Ultimately, he would possibly not be wanted at all. And that is what a Taoist wants to become.
Like it or not, it seems we actually live our life following the paths of these great minds and they come in a full circle. Their doctrines were carefully conceived and laid down by observing human life and being. Buddha himself wondered why man had to be old, sick and die and that was the starting point of searching the truth. Lao tzu observed, noticed and respected nature. Confucius wandered half of China to convey his thinking so the people could live well together in the society. Christians however, have fate, discipline and will to live superbly.
Perhaps, we could say, regardless of race, religion, we collectively were born and molded by the elements of the natural world: the instincts, inherent tendencies directing the conduct to be a man of good nature.

ลัทธิเต๋า ขงจื้อ พระเยซู พระพุทธเจ้า
การอ่านหนังสือเกี่ยวกับความนึกคิดและกระบวนทัศน์ทั้งสี่ของ ลัทธิเต๋า ขงจื๊อ เยซู พระพุทธเจ้า ซึ่งมีผลกระทบที่ลึกซึ้งและยั่งยืนต่อความคิด การศึกษา ความเชื่อของมนุษย์ชาติ คนต่างพยายามนำคำสอนเหล่านั้นมาประยุกต์เข้ากับการดำเนินชีวิต นักอ่านมือใหม่อย่างเราขอคิดแบบง่ายๆโดยเปรียบเทียบหลักการของทั้งสี่ลัทธิศาสนาควบคู่ไปกับขั้นตอนการเติบโตของมนุษย์
เด็กที่เกิดใหม่มีความเป็นอิสระ จิตใจเปิดกว้างยอมรับในทุกสิ่งโดยไม่ตัดสินอะไร อาจกล่าวได้ว่าเรามีหลักการของลัทธิเต๋าติดตัวมาตั้งแต่เกิด
เติบโตขึ้นมาเพื่อเป็นสมาชิกที่ดีในสังคม เด็กจำเป็นต้องเรียนรู้ มีวินัย ได้รับการศึกษา หลักการของขงจื๊อจะมีบทบาทสำคัญในชีวิตของเราในช่วงปีเรียนหนังสือจนจบการศึกษา
แล้วหน้าที่การงานก็ตามมา ต้องหารายได้เลี้ยงดูครอบครัวคนต้องมีวินัยและทุ่มเทให้กับงาน
มีความประสงค์ ความฝัน การเสียสละ ต้องการการดำรงอยู่ มีบ้านมีครอบครัว และขยับขยายให้เติมโตขึ้น เช่นเดียวกับคริสเตียนที่ครั้งหนึ่งเคยออกไปทุกหนทุกแห่งเพื่อครอบครองโลก
ความแข็งแรงของมนุษย์จะค่อยๆลดลงจากโรคภัยไข้เจ็บหรือเพียงแค่อายุมากขึ้น ความถดถอยจะตามมาเองโดยธรรมชาติผู้คนต่างต้องคำนึงถึงสุขภาพและความเป็นอยู่ของตัวเอง ใช้ชีวิตด้วยความเพียงพอ นั่นคือหลักคำสอนของพระพุทธศาสนา
ถ้ายังมีชีวิตอยู่ก็จะแก่ลงไปเรื่อยๆ ความอยากที่จะมีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องกับสิ่งต่างๆจะลดน้อยถอยลง ในที่สุดก็จะไม่อยากให้ตัวเองเป็นที่ต้องการใดๆทั้งสิ้น และนั่นคือสิ่งที่คนนับถือลัทธิเต๋าอยากจะเป็น
แท้จริงแล้วเราดำเนินชีวิตตามหลักการที่ท่านศาสดาทั้งสี่ได้กำหนดไว้ และดูเหมือนจะมีเส้นทางส่งต่อถึงกันจนครบช่วงอายุขัย หลักคำสอนเหล่านั้นได้รับการพิจารณาอย่างรอบคอบและวางกฎเกณฑ์โดยสังเกตชีวิตมนุษย์และความเป็นอยู่ พระพุทธเจ้าเองสงสัยว่าทำไมมนุษย์ถึงต้องแก่ ป่วย และตาย นั่นคือจุดเริ่มต้นของการค้นหาความจริง ลัทธิเต๋าสังเกตธรรมชาติ เคารพในวัฏจักรและยินดียอมรับสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้น ขงจื๊อเดินทางกว่าครึ่งประเทศจีนเพื่อถ่ายทอดความคิดที่ประชาชนจะสามารถอยู่ร่วมกันได้ดีในสังคม ส่วนชาวคริสเตียนมีความมุมานะ มีระเบียบวินัย และความตั้งใจที่จะดำเนินชีวิตอย่างดี
อาจกล่าวได้ว่า มนุษย์ทุกคนโดยไม่คำนึงถึงเชื้อชาติ ศาสนา ต่างก็เกิดและถูกหล่อหลอมโดยครรลองของธรรมชาติที่ชี้แนะกล่อมเกลาให้เป็นคนดีมีประโยชน์ต่อสังคม
