Susan, Who Never Gives Up

The above proverbs are all good. But I can’t choose which one is the most suitable for Susan. Being in Atlanta this time, three or four days ago, I couldn’t catch up with Susan whether going to the restaurants or to the bus stations. Though six months ago, Susan barely walk by herself. This was because of the accident from the cataract procedure two years ago.
After the surgery, Susan had to lie face down all the time. Can’t see iPad for several months. When the symptoms improved her vision was still faint. Regardless,
Susan went out and did things, including an Expedition in the Antarctica.
Susan wanted to work regardless. She just wanted to be out there and meet people. Obviously, Susan wanted to test herself whether she could still do it. The job was a desk job but Susan is Susan, who can’t sit still, so she got up and put things in places and wrote orders, eventually. Yes, Susan didn’t do it for money.
“Doing something, especial work, helps boost my confidence.”
We all agree with Susan, but how many would dare to do.

ซูซาน ผู้ไม่ยอมแพ้ชะตากรรม

คำกล่าวข้างบนดีๆทั้งนั้น จนเลือกไม่ได้ว่าคำใหนของใครเหมาะกับซูซานที่สุด ก็ที่ไปแอตแลนต้าคราวนี้เมื่อสามสี่วันที่แล้วเราเดินตามซูซานแทบไม่ทัน ไม่ว่าไปร้านอาหารไปสถานีรถบัส ทั้งที่เมื่อหกเดือนที่แล้วซูซานเดินคนเดียวแทบไม่ได้ มีผ้าปิดตาข้างขวาเวลาเดินต้องระวังจับโน่นเกาะนี่ค่อยๆเดินทีละก้าวสองก้าว ทั้งนี้เพราะเกิดอุบัติเหตุตอนทำต้อกระจกเมื่อสองปีที่แล้ว
หลังผ่าตัดซูซานต้องนอนคว่ำหน้าตลอดเวลา ดูมือถือไอแพดไม่ได้เป็นเวลาหลายเดือน หลังอาการดีขึ้นแต่การมองเห็นยังลางเลือน ซูซานก็ไม่ยอมอยู่บ้านออกจากไปโน่นมานี่รวมถึงที่ไปเรือผจญที่ขั้วโลกใต้ แต่ซูซานต้องมีคนช่วยขับรถให้และเดินขนาบกันไป ซูซานบอกว่า ถ้าต้องอยู่บ้านตลอดเวลาคงบ้าตาย
ที่ซูซานอยากทำงานช่วงงานโชว์ทั้งที่ได้ค่าจ้างเท่ากับแรงงานขั้นต่ำ เพราะอยากมาเจอะเจอผู้คน ที่สำคัญอยากทดสอบตัวเองว่ายังทำอะไรได้ เดิมทีงานที่ทำเป็นงานนั่งโต๊ะทำเอกสาร แต่ซูซานก็เป็นซูซานผู้นั่งเฉยๆไม่เป็น จึงลุกทำโน่นไปนี่จัดของวางเข้าที่และเขียนออร์เดอร์ช่ายเลย ซูซานไม่ได้ทำเพื่อเงิน เธอบอกว่า ก็ไม่คิดว่าจะทำอะไรได้ขนาดนี้ “Doing something, especial work, helps boost my confidence.”
เราเห็นด้วยกับซูซานที่บอกว่าการได้ทำอะไรโดยเฉพาะทำงานเป็นการช่วยเสริมสร้างความมั่นใจให้กับตัวเอง
